I don't know if this is regional or just dated but I feel like almost everyone brought lunch in my high school! I'm surprised that it's a sign of immaturity.

I assumed it was a 12-year-old thing. Arbitrary stuff being decreed cool/uncool seems to kind of suit that age group.
